Gold Dust and CLF is offering you a really special opportunity to spend a Saturday morning with Louise Doughty, author of the bestseller Apple Tree Yard, Platform Seven, Whatever You Love, Fires in the Dark and many other novels, plays, screenplays, journalism and short stories.   

Offered as a Saturday morning zoom workshop with a Q&A to follow, chaired by Leigh Chambers, writer and presenter of Bookmark, Cambridge 105 Radio. This will be a special opportunity for creative writers to hear Louise explain how she tackles plot and structure in her own work, and then to put their own questions about writing to Louise. This is a rare chance to hear a detailed account of the working methods of a writer of huge experience, known for her candid, friendly and no-nonsense approach. 

Author Biography

Alongside her own work, Louise has been a mentor for Gold Dust, taught Creative Writing for the Faber Academy, and the Arvon Foundation and been a popular columnist for the Telegraph for creative writers. Alongside the nine novels she has published one non-fiction book, Novel In a Year. Students of note include thriller writer S J Watson and debut novelist Stephanie Scott. She has an honorary doctorate from the University of East Anglia. Her novel Apple Tree Yard sold half a million copies in the UK alone, has been translated into thirty territories worldwide and was made into a four-part TV adaptation with Emily Watson in the lead role, with viewing figures of seven million. Her numerous other titles include Platform Seven, Whatever You Love, Fires in the Dark.
