Join Alex Clark to meet some of the brightest new stars in contemporary fiction: Megan Nolan, Robert Jones Jr and Jo Lloyd. 

Always one of our most highly anticipated events, this year’s Debut Writers Panel will not disappoint. Alex Clark will introduce Megan Nolan (Acts of Desperation), Robert Jones Jr. (The Prophets), and Jo Lloyd (The Earth, Thy Great Exchequer, Ready Lies). All have garnered terrific reviews so come and find out what all the fuss is about. 

Author Biographies

Megan Nolan lives in London and was born in 1990 in Waterford, Ireland. Her essays, fiction, and reviews have been published in The New York TimesThe White ReviewThe Sunday TimesThe Village VoiceThe Guardian, and in the literary anthology, Winter Papers. She writes a fortnightly column for the New StatesmanActs of Desperation is her first novel. 

Robert Jones, Jr is a writer from Brooklyn, N.Y. He earned both his B.F.A. in creative writing and M.F.A. in fiction from Brooklyn College. His work has been featured in The New York TimesEssenceGawker, and The Grio. He is the creator of the social justice social media community Son of Baldwin. He is currently working on his second novel. 

Jo Lloyd won the BBC National Short Story Award in 2019 and an O. Henry Prize in 2018. Her stories have appeared in Zoetrope: All-StoryPloughsharesSouthern Review, and elsewhere. She grew up in South Wales, where she now lives. 

Alex Clark (chair) is a British literary journalist and editor who has written for The GuardianThe Observer and The Times Literary Supplement. She also presents Front Row on BBC Radio 4 and hosts the Vintage Podcast about books.
