The Goldsmiths Prize: M. John Harrison
We were delighted to welcome 2020 winner of the Goldsmiths Prize, M. John Harrison to speak to fellow author and judge Chris Power on art of the novel and this year’s most exciting new fiction.
Harrison’s winning novel, The Sunken Land Begins to Rise Again, is an uncanny tale of broken life in Brexit Britain. He has described it as ‘a novel about conspiracy theory in which you can’t tell what’s theory and what’s real. It’s set in the UK now and it refers to the UK now. It isn’t science-fiction or folk horror or psycho-geography, but it contains parodic elements of all three, and more.’
